New Rhyl Sports Bar Ember Lounge Already Attracting Residents and Holidaymakers

A NEW seafront sports bar and grill looks set to do a roaring trade this summer.

The Ember Lounge has only been open a matter of weeks but is already igniting interest among residents and holidaymakers.

Based on Rhyl promenade, the venue offers a “vibrant space” for up to 100 diners; showcasing live sporting events and bringing something a little different to the coastal resort via three virtual darts lanes proving popular with visitors.

As a local I was intrigued and wanted to see this for myself, given West Parade is better known for amusement arcades and fast food than a hub for hospitality.

The area is subject to several regeneration plans and there has been a period of investment which has reinforced confidence and encouraged start-ups to have faith and provide the many people in Rhyl looking for a quality destination for food and drink – me included – with an attractive option.

I arrived on a sunny weekday afternoon with a friend, both keen – and hopeful – to see if that was the case.

I’m happy to say it was. The interior is sharp and classy, exactly what Rhyl needs. Stylish décor, a relaxed vibe and attentive management and staff focused on the customer and delivering a memorable experience.

A hot day called for cold drinks, sparkling tonic water, and perusal of a clean, uncluttered menu. Decisive and delicious, with intent.

I opted for the Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad and a side of Truffle and Garlic Fries, my companion – a self-confessed Americanophile – selected Dirty Tater Tots and a Midnight Mac and Cheese with Hot Halloumi Bites and jalapenos.

Our eyes lit up when the dishes arrived, less than 15 minutes later, freshly prepared and ample in portion.

“As good as anything I’ve eaten in the US, very authentic!” was his response, and mine was equally welcoming.

The Caesar salad was crisp and flavoursome, packed with garlic croutons, bacon, parmesan and Caesar sauce. Well-seasoned and presented.

As the restaurant began to get busier, I smiled to myself, because contrary to regular misjudgement, the people of Rhyl are desperate for a simple, reasonably priced, prime location to eat great food and have a good time.

They should try The Ember Lounge. The very best of luck to the owners and their talented team, they deserve every success.

A raft of 5* reviews demonstrate they are already on the way.
