Denbighshire County Council Appoints Helen White as New Chief Executive

RUTHIN, Denbighshire — Denbighshire County Council has today welcomed Helen White as its new Chief Executive, marking the start of a fresh leadership era for the authority as it tackles ongoing challenges and opportunities across the county.

White officially took up the role on 19 January 2026, succeeding outgoing Chief Executive Graham Boase, who retired after more than three decades of public service including four years leading Denbighshire’s senior management team.

A native of Henllan and fluent Welsh speaker, White brings more than 20 years of leadership experience spanning the public, voluntary and private sectors. Before joining the council, she served as Chief Executive Officer at Taff Housing Association, where she led strategic and operational delivery across housing and community development.

In her first statement as Chief Executive, White said she was honoured to take on the top role in her home county and stressed her commitment to working collaboratively with council staff, elected members, and local stakeholders to make a tangible difference for communities and businesses across Denbighshire.

“I know it’s a challenging time for so many in our communities,” she said. “I’m looking forward to working alongside dedicated colleagues to help make a positive impact in the county I was born and raised in.”

Council Leader Jason McLellan praised White’s appointment, saying her track record and leadership style fit well with the council’s ambitions. He also thanked Graham Boase for his years of service and steady leadership through demanding periods for local government.

White’s appointment comes at a pivotal moment as Denbighshire continues to implement its 2022–2027 Corporate Plan, focusing on long-term sustainability, service quality and economic resilience.
