Neath entrepreneur spots growing hair feather trend ahead of Met Gala revival

A Neath entrepreneur believes the resurgence of feather-heavy styling at this year’s Met Gala reflects a fashion trend consumers were already embracing through TikTok, festival culture and nostalgia-led beauty trends.

Scott Sullivan, owner of South Wales-based e-commerce brand Feather Heads, says growing interest in hair feather extensions over the past year suggests fashion is beginning to catch up with trends already emerging organically online.

Launched in March 2025 following redundancy, Feather Heads specialises in ethically sourced hair feather extensions sold through TikTok Shop, Etsy and the company’s website.

Since launching, the business has seen steady demand linked to celebrity styling moments, festival fashion and Gen Z-driven nostalgia trends.

One of the most noticeable spikes came after Kim Kardashian wore feathers in her hair at the premiere of All’s Fair in Brazil in November 2025, with momentum continuing through awards season, including the VMAs and Grammys.

“What’s particularly interesting is that UK customers are already embracing brighter, bolder feather colours more than many of our US customers, who tend to favour softer, more natural tones focused more on texture and volume,” said Scott.

“I wasn’t particularly surprised to see feathers appear so prominently at this year’s Met Gala, as we’d already been noticing growing interest through TikTok, celebrity looks and customer buying habits over the past year.

“In many ways, it feels like fashion is now catching up with what consumers were already experimenting with online.”

Hair feather extensions offer a temporary way for consumers to experiment with colour, texture and self-expression without the permanence of hair dye, making them increasingly popular for festivals, events and social media-led fashion trends.

Feather Heads also recently launched beginner-friendly ‘Business in a Box’ kits aimed at aspiring entrepreneurs and side hustlers interested in offering hair feather installations at festivals, markets and events.
