New figures reveal the Welsh county is streets ahead of the UK average, while one Powys town has hot tubs in almost three quarters of its holiday lets
Forget Cornwall and forget the Lake District, there is one part of Britain where you are far more likely to find a holiday cottage with a hot tub waiting for you…Powys.
New figures from selfcatering.co.uk have revealed that 42% of holiday lets in Powys have a hot tub, meaning more than two in every five properties offer guests the chance to unwind in their own private outdoor soak.
The figure is more than double the UK average of 18%, with 484 of the 1,148 Powys properties analysed featuring a hot tub. It puts the Welsh county firmly at the top of the table and gives it a rather fitting new title: Britain’s hot tub capital.
The findings become even more striking in the town of Rhayader, where 72% of holiday lets have a hot tub. That means that for visitors looking to escape to the Welsh countryside, finding somewhere with a hot tub is not exactly a long shot.
There is another reason Powys could prove particularly appealing to families looking for a countryside escape, almost seven in ten of the holiday lets with hot tubs are also dog friendly, making for a pretty compelling holiday combination.
Richard Young, CEO of selfcatering.co.uk says “While Powys takes the county title, Rhayader is also proving to be one of Britain’s standout hot tub destinations.
“The town has hot tubs in 72% of its holiday lets, placing it third among UK towns with at least 50 properties included in the analysis, only Lanreath in Cornwall and Dobwalls, also in Cornwall, rank higher.”
With its location surrounded by some of mid Wales’ most impressive countryside, Rhayader is perhaps a fitting place to find such a high concentration of properties offering the increasingly popular amenity.
